International Labeling Updates – Wine Exported to Korea and Nonretail Products Exported to Japan

Jessie Nichols, Especialista Técnica Internacional Superior |

Korea Allows “Made with Organic Grapes” Wine

Wine certified to the USDA NOP “Made with Organic Grapes” standard and containing over 95% organic content may now be exported to Korea under the U.S./South Korea equivalence arrangement. Wine may contain sulfur dioxide and may be labelled as either “Made with Organic Grapes” or “Organic Wine” for export to Korea. The CCOF has been updated to include this allowance. If you would like to export your USDA NOP “Made with Organic Grapes” wine to Korea, submit the Solicitud del programa de acceso al mercado global a inbox@ccof.org and include a copy of your Korea export label. Then you may request the Certificado de exportación NAQS for each shipment from export@ccof.org.

For more information, please see the U.S. Korea Organic Equivalence Arrangement .

JAS Seal Required on Non-retail Labels

The JAS seal is required on both retail and non-retail labels. This update is a clarification of the requirements. The JAS seal may be applied by a certified JAS importer or by a U.S. operation through a Consignment Contract with a JAS certified importer. Please see www.ccof.org/japan para más información.
