It is critical that members of the organic community submit public comments on the substances up for re-listing or removal from the National List of Allowed & Prohibited Substances and the other NOSB agenda items. The votes and discussions in Jacksonville will impact future organic standards and substances allowed in organic production.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend a workshop that meets the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) training requirement for produce growers at a discounted rate.  Normally, these trainings can cost hundreds of dollars per person, but thanks to a grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the CCOF Foundation is offering these trainings for $35 per attendee. The ticket price includes course materials, lunch, and certificate fees.
 

EcoFarm Bus Tour Highlights CCOF Members Farming on Hollister Plain

Each year the EcoFarm Conference kicks off with a popular all-day farm bus tour. This year, the tour was titled “Organic Farming On and Near the Hollister Plain” and brought participants to farms and ranches in the Hollister area, including three CCOF-certified operations: Coke Farm, Morris Grassfed, and Pinnacle Organically Grown Produce.

EcoFarm Conference Brings Together the Organic Community

From January 22-25, the Ecological Farming Association brought together the organic community for a week of connection, learning, and celebration at the EcoFarm Conference. CCOF members and staff were active participants in the conference both as attendees and as workshop presenters and moderators, event hosts, and keynote speakers.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan Applications Now Open Exclusively to Agricultural Producers

As of Monday, May 4, the Small Business Administration (SBA) will now accept new applications for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program exclusively from agricultural producers. During the first round of funding, SBA prohibited agricultural producers from applying for relief. While the current round of funding includes agricultural producers as eligible applicants, SBA has been processing applications left over from the previous round. 
 
The EIDL program offers loan advances of up to $10,000 for businesses experiencing a loss in revenue due to COVID-19.

Farmers, What Food Safety Help Do You Need?

Long time CCOF ally Community Alliance with Family Farmers is a regional partner of the Local Food Safety Collaborative (LFSC). LFSC has developed a needs assessment survey to gather input to support farmers and processors in complying with applicable Food Safety Modernization Act regulations.
