USDA Declares Intention to Withdraw Organic Livestock and Poultry Practices Final Rule

USDA published notice in the Federal Register this week that it intends to withdraw the Organic Livestock and Poultry Practices final rule, which has been under development by the organic community for over a decade. The notice opens a public comment period that is open through Jan. 17, 2018.  Comments may be submitted through regulations.gov.
 

USDA Launches Organic Learning Center Featuring CCOF-Produced Content

Last week the National Organic Program (NOP) launched the Organic Integrity Learning Center, an online platform that will provide free organic education geared towards certifiers, inspectors, reviewers, and compliance specialists. CCOF-produced videos were featured in a lesson titled “Sound and Sensible Organic Certification.” These videos were produced with a grant from USDA’s Sound and Sensible initiative to ease the process of transition and certification for producers.

CCOF will be at the world’s largest annual agricultural show February 9-11, 2016, in Tulare, CA! Come visit us at the 2016 World Ag Expo in Building C at booth 3619! We will be prepared to answer your certification questions and talk organic.

The voting period for amendments to CCOF’s membership bylaws is now open and ends October 2, 2017. If you haven’t already, please check your mailbox or email inbox for these important materials. A 10 percent quorum is required to enact these revisions to the bylaws. The amendments to the bylaws will allow the board to form chapters to include currently unrepresented members, improve board operations, and support growth of the CCOF Foundation.

Voto de los Estatutos de CCOF

Para asegurar que todos los miembros certificados por CCOF estén representados a nivel de la junta directiva, los miembros deben aprobar cambios en los estatutos de CCOF que permitirán a la junta establecer nuevas organizaciones locales. Este otoño, todos los miembros certificados tendrán la oportunidad de votar para enmendar los estatutos de CCOF como corresponde. En Septiembre, los miembros recibirán papeletas y materiales y tendrán 30 días para responder. Se requiere un quórum del 10 por ciento para promulgar estas revisiones a los estatutos.
