If you are a CCOF-certified organic producer and/or a CCOF Foundation donor, your business may qualify for 1% for the Planet membership.
Started in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Blue Ribbon Flies founder Craig Matthews, 1% for the Planet is a global community of over 4,500 businesses committed to donating 1 percent of sales directly to environmental organizations on the front lines of the climate crisis. To date, 1% for the Planet members have contributed over $650M directly to these Environmental Partners, which now include CCOF’s 501c(5) and the CCOF Foundation’s 501c(3) nonprofit arm. The 1% for the Planet logo is featured widely on millions of products and services worldwide, and awareness is growing every day. This globally recognized, trusted platform amplifies your ability to make a lasting impact while reaching new audiences.
For many CCOF-certified clients, 1% for the Planet membership might be within reach. 1% for the Planet members certify, on an annual basis, that they have donated 1 percent of sales directly to approved Environmental Partners. Contributions made to CCOF, in addition to countless other Environmental Partners in their network, can count toward that commitment.
CCOF started as a humble, grassroots organization in the early 1970s. From the very beginning, CCOF worked to advance organic agriculture from all angles—pooling resources, expertise, and passion to build strong and resilient organic food systems. Today, CCOF continues to advance organic agriculture for a healthy world through certification, education, advocacy, and promotion. Separate CCOF entities work in partnership to protect organic integrity and support organic producers. This unique structure ensures the utmost impartiality in managing certification programs while also maximizing resources for the organic community and uplifting the voice of the organic producer. We are grateful to have our work recognized and our mission amplified by 1% for the Planet.
