Jacobsen Orchards

Description

Jacobsen Orchards is a 1.5 acre plot tucked away within the town limits of Yountville. The small family-owned farm and orchard boasts over 120 fruit trees, including 10 varieties of figs and peaches, unusual vegetables, and hundreds of herbs and culinary flowers.
“If only vegetables were like this when I was a child I probably would have appreciated them much more. It’s better to discover late than never!” (from a Yelp review) Throughout the year, Peter Jacobsen grows everything from onions, rosemary and basil to pears, figs, plums, tomatoes, berries and lettuces for the restaurants. Walking around the small backyard plot dense with rows of tomatoes, squash, flowers and fruit trees, Jacobsen casually acknowledges that he makes his living working with some of the best chefs in the country.
This dentist turned dirt-under-the-nails grower has been providing produce for some of the highest-end restaurants for quite some time. The produce on his property grace the tables of The French Laundry, along with spots like Angele, Auberge du Soleil, La Toque and Redd. Now, chefs can come to the orchard and “”shop,” and pick what they want for their restaurant on any given day.
