Our produce is grown in sustainable aquaponic systems that maintain a dynamic ecosystem. The water that the plants grow in is supplied with nutrients from our fish. The plants clean the water for the fish and the fish provide fertilizer for the plants. The main fish in our system are perch and goldfish. We have added mosquito fish to eat any mosquito eggs that may get laid in the water.
This form of farming involves no dirt, weeds, soil pests, pathogens, tilling, cultivating, fertilizing, spreading, compost shredding, manure spreading, plowing-in cover crops, or irrigating. It uses less land, water, and energy! We are also collecting rain water to add to our systems when needed.
We primarily sell our greens at several farmers’ markets, but you can also come to our farm on the first Saturday of each month to get a tour and pick your own fresh produce. We have partnered with a local CSA and will be opening a store front in the spring of 2015.
