CCOF Concludes a Powerful Visit to Sacramento

CCOF Advocacy Day
The energy is still buzzing from CCOF’s recent visit to over 50 legislators in Sacramento on February 18 and 19 for Rooting for Organic: CCOF’s 2020 Annual Meeting and advocacy day. Joined by CCOF members, community allies, and organic advocates alike, more than 100 people met in the California State Capitol to engage in the democratic process and make the case that organic is the next step forward for a climate resilient California.

CCOF Foundation Hosts Food Safety Workshops for Produce Growers at Three California Locations

On Monday, produce growers from across Northern California gathered in Sacramento for a workshop on on-farm food safety.

Taught by Atina Diffley—organic farmer and author of the book Turn Here Sweet Corn: Organic Farming Works—workshop participants put together action plans to address food safety on their individual operations. In building their plans, growers considered market needs, as well as the new federal food safety regulations.

CCOF Hosts Webinar on Methods for Teaching Organic Farming and Gardening

Join farmer-educator Christof Bernau from the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) at UC Santa Cruz on Wednesday, February 24, from 12-1 p.m. for a free webinar on farm-based experiential education. Bernau will discuss ways to use an array of strategies to engage your audience; build student, intern and apprentice capacity; and grow the next generation of farmers.

Join us at the CCOF headquarters in Santa Cruz to hear from the technical experts at GLOBALG.A.P. about how their newly updated Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS) v1.1 helps producers comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). 
 

CCOF Joins FFA for its 90th National Convention and Expo!

The CCOF Foundation has partnered with the National FFA Organization (FFA) to provide grants to high school students for organic Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects over the last four years. This year, Foundation staff member Josaphine Stevenson attended FFA’s National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana for the first time. The Convention and Expo were attended by 64,000 FFA students from throughout the nation.
