What to Consider Saying
My name is (first and last name) and I farm at (name of farm). I want to share my support for the nitrogen credits and discount factors for compost and organic fertilizers in the Central Coast Ag Order 4.0. As an organic farmer, I am committed to building soil health and protecting water quality. Please support the nitrogen credits and discount factors for compost and organic fertilizers. Thank you.
If You Want to Get in The Weeds
Sharing your name and farm and your support is sufficient! For the folks that want to say more, consider adding:
These credits help farmers and reflect the science of how organic nitrogen becomes available in soil. Most compost nitrogen stays in a stable organic form while organic fertilizers release nitrogen gradually through microbial activity. This makes these practices safer for water quality. The nitrogen credits make it feasible for us to continue using practices that protect groundwater, build soil health, and maintain productive farms.
