Last month, we published an announcement that the USDA had published new organic regulations for pet food and mushrooms, effective February 21. That date has now been delayed until March 21, 2025.
The delay of the Market Development for Mushrooms and Pet Food Final Rule (89 FR 104367) is being published in accordance with the presidential memorandum of January 20, 2025, “Regulatory Freeze Pending Review” (90 FR 8249).
Because the rule provides organic operations with two years to comply with the requirements, all organic mushroom and pet food operations must now comply with the rule by March 22, 2027.
