Last Thursday, February 18, CCOF held its first fully virtual annual meeting, Cultivate and Nourish. While we look forward to being together again soon, holding this event virtually allowed for unprecedented attendance and participation. Farmers, ranchers, and producers who typically lack time to attend conferences were able to log in from the comfort of their homes and hear directly from CCOF’s CEO Kelly Damewood and CCOF Board Chair Phil LaRocca.
David Robles, program manager for food justice organization Food, What?! and former participant in CCOF Foundation’s Future Organic Famer program, shared his family’s story of farming and resilience and reflected on his own commitment to reimagining the food system. Although only a small part of David’s story, the CCOF Foundation is proud to have supported his education at the University of California, Santa Cruz through our Future Organic Famer program. Since the program’s launch in 2014, our supporters and the CCOF Foundation have allocated more than $700,000 directly to future organic professionals like David across the United States.
Now is the time to invest in the next generation of organic producers like David. Donate to Future Organic Famers today. A full 100 percent of your gift goes directly to the next generation of organic farmers.
