Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards (OLPS)—Updates to CCOF’s Organic System Plan Forms

All CCOF-certified and new livestock operations will be receiving our newly updated Organic System Plan (OSP) forms to ensure compliance with the USDA’s Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards (OLPS), which were published to the Federal Register on November 2, 2023.

These forms have been updated to better address topics such as transport, health care practices, housing specifications, and other applicable requirements that have gained more specificity and clarity with this new rule. CCOF also developed a new optional resource, the Animal Transport Affidavit, to support producers in documenting how they comply with all new animal transport requirements.

Operations raising or handling organic livestock will need to complete and submit these forms to CCOF as soon as possible and no later than January 2, 2025, to ensure their OSP is updated and reflects all current practices by the OLPS compliance date.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Livestock Certification Supervisor Kelly Korman at kkorman@ccof.org or via phone at (831) 346-6316. We understand that there has been a series of regulatory updates impacting livestock operations specifically and that these significant new requirements will further impact your systems and processes. We are here to discuss your options, deadlines, and pathways forward. We deeply appreciate your commitment to organic animal agriculture.
