Organic Certifiers May Be Compensated for Desk Audits

In the spring of 2024, The National Organic Program released a new document, the Transitional Production Plan (TPP) for crop producers transitioning to organic, as part of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative (OTI) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). Additional information can be found in the recent Transitional Operation Reporting memo issued to certifiers.

In collaboration with 36 partner organizations, CCOF is leading organic transition efforts under the TOPP program throughout the Western and Southwestern United States (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California, and Hawaii). The TPP form is useful for farms that want to access Natural Resources Conservation Service and Crop Insurance resources to transition.

We are looking for other certification bodies with crop operations in the West/Southwest TOPP region to offer free desk audits for the TPP form. TOPP may be able to compensate certifiers for offering TPP desk audits.

Please use this survey to indicate your interest in completing TPP forms for payment by August 14.
