Operations in Canada – Canadian Organic Standards Updated

by Patrick Arndt, Assistant Director of Handler Certification |
Canadian Organic Standards Update

Note: This news pertains to COR certified operations in Canada only.

On March 27, 2026, the CFIA released updates to the Canadian Organic Standards. Read the updated versions:

These updates are part of the regular five-year review and update process by the Canadian General Standards Board.

CCOF is in the process of fully evaluating these updates to determine whether any direct changes will be required by your operation regarding organic practices or your Organic System Plan (OSP). Please note that if any changes are, in fact, necessary, then your operation will have up to one year from the release date of these updates to incorporate the changes (per COR Operating Manual C.5.2).

CCOF will complete our evaluation of these updates and will be in touch with operations if changes are required. We encourage all COR-certified operations to review these updated standards.
