Help Us Advocate for Organic Certification Cost Share: Tell Us Your Cost Share Story

by Kelly Damewood and Jane Sooby |

Cost Share Defunded

The federal Organic Certification Cost Share Program does not have funding for 2025.

Organic Cost Share is a program that provides rebates to certified organic farmers, ranchers, and processors/handlers for their organic certification costs. Just before its winter recess, Congress passed stopgap funding to keep farm bill programs running through 2025. Unfortunately, Congress excluded organic cost-share funding from the funding package.

Therefore, organic producers will not receive any federal organic cost share reimbursement in 2025. Cost share payments for 2024 will not be affected.

CCOF is incredibly disappointed to see this valuable program defunded, and we are advocating that Congress reinstate financial support for diverse organic producers through the farm bill. Your cost share story will help us make the case to Congress that certification cost share is a crucial program that needs to be reinstated as soon as possible. Please use this online form to let us know what cost share means to you.

CCOF offers financial support for those who have experienced natural disasters or otherwise may struggle with paying certification fees. We encourage all affected CCOF members to review eligibility for CCOF’s internal financial assistance program. In anticipation of a greater need for assistance, we are also reviewing other strategies to help our members navigate this challenging financial setback. If you do not qualify for our current program, please check back with CCOF in June 2025 for potential additional resources.
