We study, we practice, and we hope to find success in our chosen fields. For those working in organic agriculture, those fields are both literal and figurative.
After the initial elation—and subsequent shock—of starting your organic farming business, comes the day-to-day tasks. Gone are the days of acquiring permits from the county and spending day in and day out trying to get your business off the ground. You have launched. Your modus operandi has made a sudden and dramatic shift. You’re selling at farmers’ markets, your products have been picked up by retailers, and your business starts to take on a life of its own. A few years in, the Food Safety Modernization Act is implemented, and you don’t know the first thing about it. And so, back to the books you go!
CCOF is here to help. We provide free and very low-cost continuing education for organic farmers and producers through our Organic Training Institute, and our Visionary Supporters like Valent help us make these programs a reality. Many of our classes are even eligible for continuing education credits. Our trainers understand the needs of organic farmers and producers, and we go the extra mile to make sure that vital information—on topics ranging from new soil health research to changes in federal regulations—is accessible to all. Organic is a fast-changing field, and it takes a collaborative effort between researchers, farmers, advocates, and funders to keep operations at the cutting edge.
Valent shares our goal of ensuring the success of organic producers. “Valent values its partnership with the CCOF Foundation to promote the value and importance of organic production in the United States,” explains Tom Caruso, Marketing Manager at Valent.
The CCOF Foundation values Valent’s partnership as a Visionary Supporter of its programs that promote access to organic education and strengthen the success of the organic sector.
