Farm & Processor Viability

From the climate crisis to supply chain disruptions, the food system continues to face severe challenges that put farmers, ranchers, and processors at risk. Farm and processor viability is at the heart of a thriving organic sector. 

Our Farm & Processor Viability campaign focuses on farmers and processors’ bottom line. The Advocacy Team’s work includes: 

• We worked alongside dairy producers to establish a federal assistance program.   
• We advocate for funding for important state relief programs, including the California Underserved and Small Producer Grant.  
• We are pushing the California Department of Public Health to create an online registration system for organic processors. 
• We are working with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to streamline reporting requirements for organic farmers.
