Pisga Organic

Description

I started Pisga Organics in 2011 after graduating from Salinas’ Farmer Education. I leased 1.5 acres of land in ALBA’s Small Farm Incubator and began growing crops like cilantro, parsley, tomatoes, bell peppers, beets, chard, and even three kinds of soy beans. Today, I manage 4.5 acres and am selling to ALBA’s wholesale distributor, ALBA Organics. I also sell my produce directly to customers at farmers’ markets in Monterey County. I work on my farm full-time and get help from my husband and from one of my sons. My biggest satisfaction is to produce organic food that will improve the health of my consumers and at the same time improve the land that is providing the food.
