Wild Roots, Felton: Shawna Rodgers LEFT and Jessy Beckett Parr RIGHT
CCOF Foundation partners with independent organic grocers to fund education, transition, and hardship programs for farmers.
In September, Wild Roots Market in Felton and Boulder Creek marked 25 years as California’s first certified organic grocery store—a milestone that reflects decades of dedication to protecting organic integrity from farm to shelf. To celebrate, Wild Roots teamed up with the CCOF Foundation for a monthlong fundraiser that raised over $1,500 to support organic farmers. Shoppers could opt in to donate their change at the register for each transaction. Small change adds up, and the CCOF Foundation continues to find ways to support the organic farming community through partnerships with grassroots, independently owned operations like historic Wild Roots Market.
As part of the celebration, Wild Roots hosted a community screening of Organic Rising at Felton Community Hall. The film brought together farmers, shoppers, and advocates to explore how organic agriculture nourishes both people and the planet. It was a night of connection, inspiration, and shared commitment to a healthier food future.
The funds raised by Wild Roots’ community will directly support the CCOF Foundation’s three core programs:
- Future Organic Farmers: providing scholarships to the next generation of organic producers and professionals.
- Organic Transition: helping farmers successfully shift to certified organic.
- Hardship Assistance: offering emergency relief when farmers face wildfires, floods, or other disasters.
At the CCOF Foundation, we partner directly with retailers like Wild Roots to make fundraisers like this possible. These collaborations strengthen the organic movement from the ground up—connecting local stores and their shoppers to the farmers who feed us all.
We’re deeply grateful to the Wild Roots team and their vibrant community for leading by example and showing how local action can make a national impact. To learn more about hosting a fundraiser for your store, contact CCOFFoundation@ccof.org or read more about us at ccof.org/foundation.
