Canada Signs Equivalence Arrangement with South Korea and Updates Arrangement with Japan

by kta |

Canada has signed a new organic equivalence arrangement with South Korea, effective November 1, 2023. This arrangement recognizes the Canadian Organic Regime (COR) as equivalent with the South Korean organic regulations with a few minor variations. Organic products certified to the COR standard and verified as compliant with the terms of the arrangement may be exported to South Korea without certification to the Korean standard. For additional details, please visit the Canada – South Korea Organic Equivalency Arrangement (CSKOEA) website. If you are interested in exporting your products from Canada to South Korea, please contact export@ccof.org

Additionally, Japan has updated the Japan Agricultural Standard (JAS) to include alcohol. The equivalence arrangement between Canada and Japan has been updated to allow COR certified alcohol to be exported to Japan and display the JAS seal. For additional details, please visit the Japan – Canada Organic Equivalence Arrangement (JCOEA) website.

If you are located in the United States, please note that these updates do not affect the USDA equivalence arrangements with these nations.
