Organic Farmers Association Creates Farmer Circles To Build Community

The Organic Farmers Association (OFA) has launched a new Farmer Circles program as part of their racial equity initiatives. 

Farmer Circles are virtual community-building spaces where farmers can come together to share their experiences, voice challenges, and make new connections. The Circles occur every month, and there is no cost to participate.

CCOF hosted a panel discussion, “Transition to Organic: How Brands & Organizations Can Support Farmer Success,” at the Natural Products Expo West.

The USDA Under Secretary Jenny Lester Moffitt, together with Daily Harvest CEO Ricky Silver, Ryan Laur from American Farmland Trust, and CCOF’s Jessy Beckett Parr spoke about creative strategies to support successful organic transition efforts through public and private partnerships. 

GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Plants v6 GFS FV TRAININGS

CCOF is offering a 16-hour, virtual-led course to provide growers of plants with key insights and understandings of the GLOBALG.A.P. requirements for the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) Plants Version 6 SMART and GFS. Come join CCOF to learn about the various certification options, requirements, and how to prepare your operation for the transition to GLOBALG.A.P. Version 6 audit in the 2024 season. Mandatory audits to v6-GFS could come as early as September of 2024.  

UC Cooperative Extension Irrigation and Nutrient Management Meeting To Focus on Ag Order Compliance

University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Monterey County will highlight compliance with the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Ag Order 4.0 at its upcoming Irrigation and Nutrient Management meeting on February 20.

The free workshop will feature lunch and live translation to Spanish. It will be held at the UCCE Agriculture Conference Room at 1432 Abbott Street, Salinas. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.; the program will start at 7:55 a.m.; and the program will end at 2:15 p.m.

Register for Virtual Farmer-to-Farmer Networking Session

The National Organic Coalition (NOC) is partnering with the Organic Farmers Association (OFA), and Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF), to host a series of virtual farmer-to-farmer networking sessions, Seeds of Success. These facilitated events will be interactive, informal spaces for farmers to share their challenges and successes, and will give farmers an opportunity to have open conversations on topics most relevant to them.
