Unlock Operational Efficiency Training - Process Improvement/Lean Track

In 2025, the world’s population is expected to reach 8 billion people. How can our agriculture systems and ag-related industries scale up to satisfy demand at that level?
— By increasing operational efficiency and doing more with less resources.
— By reducing waste in our processes (wasted time, wasted money, wasted input materials, wasted motion, wasted transportation).
— By embracing technology such as automation, sensors, big data, simulation, and optimization.
— By engaging employees because there is no downside to being a great leader. Plus, you’ll need your team to work smarter alongside the technology that will inevitably be introduced.
The field of Operational Engineering (a.k.a. Industrial Engineering) has been around since the early 1900s and has evolved throughout the last hundred years. Today, the core competencies of our profession mirror the four components listed above: increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, embrace technology, and engage employees.
The Unlocking Operational Efficiency training program teaches you to use the modern techniques of Operational Engineering, known as LEAN and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), to unlock operational efficiency within your organization. Our goal is to provide you with hands-on learning so that you are confident using LEAN and CPI principles in your work and are excited to implement and share these concepts with others.
In the Process Improvement/Lean track, we teach you the most commonly used LEAN tools, the ones that have a significant impact on any company. The Process Improvement/Lean track consists of four modules:
Module 1: Organize Your Workspace
Module 2: Get to Root Cause
Module 3: See the Process
Module 4: Eliminate Waste
This training class meets once per week for weeks. In each module, you’ll do exercises that apply these tools to your business and we provide numerous examples from farming and related industries to enhance your learning experience. The Process Improvement/Lean track is being offered this October in both English and Spanish. The English class will take place from 11:30AM to 1:30PM on Oct. 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. The Spanish class will take place from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on the same days.
