Expo West Round Up - Trends, Awards, and Non-GMO

Over 2,700 companies exhibited at this year’s Natural Products Expo West. CCOF-certified members were well represented. For instance, on the main floor you could start the morning off with some tea from Traditional Medicinals, wander over to the Lundberg booth for rice cakes, stop at Straus for some cheese to put on that rice cake, wash everything down with a new yerba mate drink from Guayaki, and finish up with one of the new flavors of Three Twins ice cream. Those were just the companies close to the CCOF booth!

Food & Wine Event Opportunity for Farmers Near Paso Robles

Earth Day Food & Wine delivers a top-quality food and wine experience paired with a casual, low-key atmosphere, all while celebrating the passionate people behind the sustainable food movement. Nestled under the oaks at Castoro Cellars in Templeton, California on April 23, the event pairs farmers with local chefs: together they present a one-of-a-kind dish!

Free Field Day Highlights the Many Benefits of Hedgerows

California Marine Sanctuary Foundation and Hedgerows Unlimited will host a workshop to demonstrate how to plant hedgerows and to outline their benefits on November 10, 2018, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.  
 
Hedgerows provide habitats for beneficial insects and pollinators, serve as windbreaks and visual barriers, sequester carbon, and protect against soil erosion.

Free Four-Day Advocacy Training for Californian Women Farmers and Ranchers

The Occidental Arts & Ecology Center (OAEC) and California Climate Action Network (CalCAN) are hosting a fully funded four-day policy advocacy training for women farmers and ranchers. The training, Forces of Natures: Advocacy Skills Training for Women Farmers and Ranchers, will be held at OAEC in Sonoma, California, on November 9-12, 2017.

Join CCOF, Lundberg Family Farms, and the Mushroom Farm in Pescadero, California for a workshop on what it takes to go organic. The workshop will help assess how close your operation is to being organic and will detail the steps necessary to transition towards certification. You will come away understanding the tenets of organic certification. Organic growers and advisors will answer questions about farming organically.
