Learn from experts about the on-farm management of nitrogen. Join Amigo Bob Cantisano from Organic Ag Advisors and Karen Lowell from the Natural Resources Conservation Service to hear about innovative approaches to quantify, budget, and manage the amount of nitrogen on your farm.

This webinar will focus on nitrogen management, budgeting, and measurements on organic farms, covering new innovative research on organic farming methods that has been shown to mitigate nitrogen run off and highlighting a decision support tool that farmers can use to build a nutrient budget. This timely topic will help growers succeed as they are under increased pressure to create budgets and monitor nitrogen use and leaching into waterways.

About our Speakers:

Amigo Bob Cantisano 
Amigo Bob Cantisano is an internationally recognized pioneer in the modern organic farming revolution. His 40+ year career spans all aspects of the organic and local food movement: developing food co-ops; retail stores; wholesale distribution; diversified organic farming; farm and garden suppliers; and food processors. He is a homesteader, heirloom plant propagator, farm advisor, farmer organizer, educator, technical writer, inventor and political activist.

Karen Lowell 
Karen Lowell, Ph.D. is an Agronomist with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and a California Certified Crop Advisor. She works with individual farmers, as well as a wide range of public and private partners supporting farmers as they manage conservation challenges in a complex production, market and regulatory climate. Much of her work focuses on nutrient, irrigation water and pest management strategies, as well as use of cover crops and other management practices that may support soil health. Karen was an Agriculture Extension Agent in Sierra Leone West Africa with the Peace Corps, has a MS degree in Agronomy from University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Soil, Crop and Atmospheric Science/minor Horticulture from Cornell University.
