En aproximadamente medio acre, vi que los surcos se estaban llenando de peque\u00f1os brotes de amaranto (me gusta llamarlo mala hierba del cerdo). Sab\u00eda que deb\u00eda pasar con el tractor para cortarlos con las cuchillas y las barredoras. Sab\u00eda que ten\u00eda que pagar a la cuadrilla para que azadonara las plantitas mientras a\u00fan era f\u00e1cil, pero se me pas\u00f3. No pude reunir el esfuerzo necesario, y entonces pas\u00f3 el tiempo. Las malas hierbas eran cada vez m\u00e1s grandes. Ahora el trabajo de quitar las malas hierbas de medio metro de altura requerir\u00e1 un esfuerzo considerable (y dinero): una azada pesada y mucho m\u00e1s tiempo que cuando eran peque\u00f1as. Dejarlas significa enfrentarse a cientos de miles de nuevas malas hierbas en el futuro, la dificultad a\u00f1adida de entrar a cosechar y, por supuesto, que las malas hierbas roban humedad y fertilidad a mis tomates. En algunos casos, si las malas hierbas son demasiadas, simplemente descartas el cultivo y sigues adelante.<\/p>\n<h2>Este a\u00f1o he aprendido que los plazos son importantes en la vida, y que lo son especialmente en la agricultura. Hay que saber cu\u00e1ndo labrar, cu\u00e1ndo plantar, cu\u00e1ndo regar, cu\u00e1ndo escardar y cu\u00e1ndo cosechar.<\/h2>\n<p>Como muchos de ustedes saben, el tiempo necesario para que una tierra pueda optar a la certificaci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica es de tres a\u00f1os. Es decir, cualquier terreno debe pasar tres a\u00f1os libre de materiales prohibidos antes de poder optar a la certificaci\u00f3n ecol\u00f3gica. (La tierra que estuvo en barbecho durante tres a\u00f1os sin aplicaciones de materiales prohibidos, bueno, esa es elegible hoy en d\u00eda).<\/p>\n<p>Las tierras que hayan sido objeto de una gesti\u00f3n convencional, o a las que se haya aplicado alg\u00fan material prohibido, necesitar\u00e1n tres a\u00f1os a partir del <em>fecha de su \u00faltima aplicaci\u00f3n material prohibida<\/em> (lo llamamos <em>DLPM<\/em> en la oficina).<\/p>\n<h2>Pero \u00bfsab\u00eda que puede plantar (pero no cosechar) antes de que pasen esos tres a\u00f1os?<\/h2>\n<p>S\u00ed, una vez establecida la fecha del \u00faltimo material prohibido, podemos establecer una fecha de elegibilidad. Y si usted ha pasado por el proceso de obtener la certificaci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica, entonces en la fecha en que ese pedazo de tierra es elegible, emitiremos el certificado. Y si ha planificado con antelaci\u00f3n, podr\u00eda haber plantado un cultivo en esa tierra que madurar\u00eda y estar\u00eda listo para la cosecha en esa fecha en la que la tierra es elegible.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo saber si el terreno es subvencionable?<\/h2>\n<p>Pues bien, te pedimos a ti y a cualquier otra persona que haya gestionado el terreno en los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os que firm\u00e9is un atestado. Es una declaraci\u00f3n jurada oficial de lo que se ha aplicado a la tierra en los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os. Si usted gestion\u00f3 la tierra durante el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o, entonces rellenar\u00eda una declaraci\u00f3n jurada del historial de la tierra para ese a\u00f1o, y luego quien la haya gestionado en los a\u00f1os anteriores firmar\u00eda una declaraci\u00f3n jurada del historial de la tierra para ese tiempo.<\/p>\n<p>Una vez contabilizados los tres a\u00f1os completos, podemos establecer una fecha de subvencionabilidad.
