National Farmers Union Accepting Applications for Beginning Farmer Institute

The National Farmers Union is accepting applications for the Beginning Farmer Institute. The Beginning Farmer Institute focuses on developing leadership and farm management skills in beginning farmers through small group teaching. 
The application form is available for download and applications are accepted until April 30, 2018.
Eligible applicants include those who are currently farming or planning on starting within the next year. Ownership of an operation is not required, and operators of any operation type or size are eligible. The program is open to residents throughout the contiguous United States and Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Applicants must be over the age of 18, but there is no age limit.
Candidates will be notified of their selection by May 31, 2018. Participants will be required to attend educational sessions in Washington D.C., Northern California, and Seattle, Washington. The program will cover the majority of costs for travel, lodging, and meals during sessions.
