CCOF and OTA Need Your Feedback!

Please complete the following surveys prepared by the Organic Trade Association (OTA).

The surveys compile information on crop and processing materials pending review before the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB). Your feedback on these materials is critical because it will help shape CCOF comments and testimony to the NOSB.

NOSB advises the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on which substances should be allowed or prohibited in organic farming and processing based on criteria under the Organic Foods Production Act. Generally, synthetic substances are prohibited unless specifically allowed and non-synthetic substances are allowed unless specifically prohibited. Exceptions to this rule are included in the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances (the National List).

NOSB reviews every substance on the National List every five years. This review process is referred to as “sunset” review.

Many materials are up for sunset review over the next two years. Thus, now is a critical time for certified organic operations and advocacy organizations like CCOF to submit comments as NOSB completes the sunset review process.

CCOF and OTA need your help as we develop comments for the NOSB. So please take a few minutes to complete any of the following surveys that may affect your operation:

 Crop Inputs

Handling Inputs

205.605(a) – Allowed non-synthetic ingredients and processing aids

205.605(b) – Allowed synthetic ingredients and processing aids
