Over its 20-year history, California FarmLink has developed its focus around three core elements for farm and ranch success: strong business skills, fair financing, and secure land tenure. We’re quick to add that growers benefit from fair and appropriate financing, with an overarching goal of enabling farmers and ranchers to build wealth through short-term profits or acquisition of assets.

With our eyes on wealth-building, California FarmLink will enable growers to compare financing options at the Growing Opportunity: Farm Finance Expo on Thursday, February 28 in Clovis, California, the day following CCOF’s Annual Meeting and Conference in nearby Fresno. The event will provide one-stop shopping for loans and other resources to help farmers and ranchers to establish long-term business goals.

A variety of ag lenders will be on hand to discuss the best sources and uses of business capital and how to effectively manage it. Lenders will be available to talk one-on-one with farmers and ranchers, including Farm Credit, AgriFinancial, Bank of the West, Farmer Mac, Fresno First Bank, Valley Small Business Development Corporation, USDA Farm Service Agency, and others. Workshops at the Expo will include growers and business advisers speaking from firsthand experience in managing farm finances.

“California FarmLink is a farm and ranch lender with a goal to help build family assets,” says Reggie Knox, executive director of California FarmLink. “This event will help both young and established growers learn how to improve their businesses with appropriate financing. We’re working to create equitable access to economic opportunity in agriculture.”

Additional services available at the event will include a financial check-up to establish financial goals and action plans. Participants can schedule one-on-one meetings in advance and are urged to bring three years of business tax records, current financial statements, and marketing plans.
