Interested in practicing or teaching organic agriculture, or know someone who is?

Apply for a Future Organic Farmer Grant! Grants are available nationally for K-8 teachers with organic classroom projects through the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, and for higher education and vocational students studying organic agriculture.

Over the last two years, the CCOF Foundation and partners have given away $150,000 in grants to students and teachers of organic agriculture across the United States. The CCOF Foundation will be offering grants in three educational categories in 2016:

Higher and Vocational Education Grants

Studying organic agriculture in a junior college, undergraduate program, or in a vocational training program? Apply for one of our $2,500 higher and vocational education grants! Last year’s grants supported students involved in programs like Rogue Farm Corps in Oregon and Appalachian State University in North Carolina, among others. Application details can be found on our website. The application deadline is May 15, 2016.

Ag in the Classroom K-8 Grants

If you are a certified K-8 teacher in the United States interested in bringing organic agriculture into your classroom, please apply for one of our $1,000 Look at Agriculture…Organically! grants for organic education, administered in collaboration with the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Grants last year paid for projects such as making compost with kindergarteners made from zoo poop, and crafting organic jam to donate to a homeless shelter. Find the application details on the California Ag in the Classroom website. The application deadline is May 15, 2016.

FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience Grants

Grants for high school students’ organic Supervised Agricultural Experience projects through the National FFA Organization (FFA) will open for applications in September 2016 and will be due in November 2016. Check our Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund page for an update with application details this fall.

The Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund is made possible through contributions from CCOF, UNFI Foundation, CCOF Processor/Handler Chapter, Clif Bar Family Foundation, Duncan Family Farms, Forager Project, Frey Vineyards, Frontier Co-op, Green Ox Pallets, Independent Natural Food Retailers Association (INFRA), National Co+op Grocers, Organic Valley, and SunRidge Farms.
