Apply for the 2017 Governor's Environmental & Economic Leadership Awards!

Applications for California’s highest environmental honor, the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Awards (GEELA), are now being accepted until August 11, 2017. GEELA honors individuals, organizations, and businesses that have demonstrated voluntary contributions in conserving California’s resources, protecting and enhancing the environment, building public-private partnerships, and strengthening the state’s economy.
Projects/programs must fall into one of five categories and subcategories:
  • Climate change
  • Ecosystem and land use stewardship
  • Environmental education
  • Sustainable practices, communities, or facilities
  • Waste reduction
  • Automotive dealer zero-emissions vehicle promotion
Applications must include the completed application, two letters of recommendation, and five high-resolution images of program, project, product, plan, or partnership. Supporting materials are optional. Letters of recommendation must be current and be from individuals or organizations familiar with the program, project, product, plan, or partnership. Examples include elected officials, non-profit or community organizations, industry experts, etc. They should not be from anyone directly involved in the program, project, product, plan, or partnership.
Past GEELA award recipients for farming and ranching include CCOF members Prather Ranch, Parducci Vineyards, Tejon Ranch, Dixon Ridge Farms, and Fetzer Vineyards.
