CCOF Presents Organic Beer & Wine Tasting, Oct. 26 in San Francisco

(September 20, 2007) Santa Cruz, CA - CCOF, one of the oldest and largest organic certifiers in the country, announces its Second Annual Organic Beer and Wine Tasting event in collaboration with the annual Harvest Festival at the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market in San Francisco. The event will take place on Friday, October 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. Resident Ferry Building food vendors will pair with visiting CCOF certified vintners and brewers to offer sample snacks and delectable accompaniments, many made with certified organic ingredients.

This year's event will showcase more than 25 organic wineries and breweries offering tastes of their spectacular products throughout the night. On board so far is Adastra Wines, Barra of Mendocino, Butte Creek Brewing, Coturri Winery, EMTU Estates, Hallcrest Vineyards, Hawley Wines, Mendocino Wine Company, Mountain People Wine, the Nevada County Wine Guild, the Organic Wine Works, Scaggs Vineyard, Silver Mountain Vineyards, Terra Savia, and Tres Sabores.

Tickets will be offered at the door, $25 for 10 tastes or $15 for 5 tastes, which includes a commemorative souvenir glass. Live music will set the tone as attendees taste and sample their way around the Ferry Building on the Bay.

An exciting cornucopia of great silent auction items are already in line such as lunch for two with a bottle of wine at the Chez Panissee Restaurant Café, a full season CSA subscription, a $50 gift certificate to Café Gratitude, a 60-minute Organic Fusion Massage, two nights stay in a Superior Room at the Hotel Carlton, and a Long Meadow Ranch Pinzgauer Adventure for four people through the back roads of their 650-acre ranch. The rich and diverse silent auction will benefit CCOF's nonprofit programs.

CCOF currently certifies more than 1,700 organic farmers, processors, handlers, retailers, and private labelers including about 75% of the organic acreage in California. More than 400 supporting members help advance CCOF's work promoting the organic way of life.
