On Tuesday, March 3, the CCOF Foundation and the UNFI Foundation will co-host a cocktail hour at Natural Products Expo West to celebrate organic farmers and the next generation of skilled producers creating the organic future.
The event will cap off powerful lectures at Expo West’s Climate Day, including a keynote address from Patagonia’s CEO and President Rose Marcario. Patagonia, one of the CCOF Foundation’s many contributing supporters, continues to set the example for how businesses can build sustainability and social consciousness into their supply chains, community engagement strategies, and support of nonprofit organizations.
The cocktail hour is co-hosted by the UNFI Foundation, one of the CCOF Foundation’s founding Visionary supporters of the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund. The UNFI Foundation is committed to inspiring better food systems and nurturing every day health in our communities. Their Executive Director Alisha Real will speak alongside a thirteenth-generation American farmer and Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund grant recipient Kathryn Doonan.
“The UNFI Foundation is proud to support the CCOF Foundation and the Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund in doing the vital work of training the next generation of organic farmers and food leaders,” says Real. “We believe everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food. Pioneering organizations like CCOF are making this happen—empowering youth to be the change we need to see in the food system.”
Businesses choose to donate to the CCOF Foundation’s Future Organic Farmer Grant Fund to support students like Kathryn each year. This fund is the only one of its kind in the nation, focused solely on supporting students and teachers of organic agriculture in partnership with the California Foundation for Ag in the Classroom and the National FFA Organization.
